Towards the end of each year, the Philippine Economic Society (PES) holds its annual meeting which brings together scholars and practitioners from all over the country to present and discuss papers on a wide range of topics in economics.
Charting New Directions for the Philippine Economy will be this year’s theme. The annual meeting will focus on the new development agenda that is necessary for the country to recover from the series of shocks and catch up with its ASEAN neighbors.
The newly-elected President of the Republic of the Philippines has been invited as the keynote speaker to share his economic program for the next six years.
There will also be parallel sessions tackling various development concerns such as poverty, migration, labor, public finance, etc. In the afternoon, well-known economists will be invited to share their economic forecasts for 2011.
The PES has served as one of the strongest networks of economist in the academe, government, and business sector.
Recognized in the international community of professional economic associations, the PES is truly a significant national and international institution.
The PES continuously provides a venue for open and free discussions of a wide range of policy issues through its conferences and symposia.
