Towards the end of each year, the Philippine Economic Society holds its annual meeting which brings together scholars and practitioners from all over the country to present and discuss papers on a wide range of topics in economics. The 46th Annual Meeting of the Society will take place in Manila on November 14, 2008. International participation in the meeting is expected to be bigger this year because it will be held in conjunction with the 11th International Convention of the East Asian Economic Association on November 15-16, 2008. The Society is co-hosting this event. The Program Committee is issuing a call for papers for presentation either in the plenary or in the parallel sessions of the annual meeting of the Society. Papers presented at plenary are usually those related to the theme while those assigned to the parallel sessions are general in nature and may or may not be directly relevant to the theme. The sessions will include but will not be limited to the following areas: - Macroeconomic Management

Authors wishing to present a paper should submit an abstract, in MS Word, Times Roman font, not exceeding 200 words to the Chair of the Program Committee, Professor Winfred Villamil of De La Salle University-Manila, at e-mail address villamilw@gmail.com by 31 May 2008. The Program Committee will evaluate the abstracts and inform the authors of the results of the evaluation by 31 July 2008. The deadline for the submission of an electronic copy of the completed paper chosen for presentation by the Programs Committee is on 5 September 2008. This is to be submitted to villamilw@gmail.com in either MSWord or as a PDF file together with a brief vita, not to exceed 200 words, of the author/authors. Submissions of full or completed papers should contain the title, author(s) and their corresponding e-mails. The completed paper should not exceed 15 pages, single spaced, including tables, references, and graphs with a page size of 8.5 x 11 and using Times Roman, size 12 fonts, for the main text. Proposals for panel sessions should include the title of the proposed session, the title of the papers (not to exceed three per panel), the author/authors of each paper, and an abstract of each paper following the format and deadlines prescribed above.
